Jhoole Weavers Photography Exhibition
February 1–March 31, 2010
This exhibit features photography by Rockford native Hannah Warren of the Jhoole Weaver's Cooperative, as well as the gorgeous textiles they produce. Jhoole (pronounced ju-LAY) is a branch of a grassroots NGO where Warren has given the weavers funds to purchase their own material to design, sell and wear their very own saris for the first time. It started with four employees and now employs over one hundred women. Proceeds from purchases of photographs, cards and fabrics will benefit both Jhoole and Womanspace, and will be a true investment in humanity.

SIFE-RAAC Logos This exhibit is presented in collaboration with the Rock Valley College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) program and is partially supported by a grant from the Rockford Area Arts Council, which receives support from the City of Rockford, the Illinois Arts Council and its members.

WomanSpeak
March 5–May 8, 2010
In honor of Women's History Month, Womanspace announces “WomanSpeak”, a new art exhibit inspired by the words of strong females in Gallery 1 in the main building on the Womanspace campus. A special FREE opening reception Friday, March 5, 5:30–8:00p will feature the artists sharing words that served as their inspiration. Enjoy refreshments, great art, and a chance to meet and speak with the artists. Poets and poetry lovers (both male and female) will also be invited to take the floor and share some of their favorite poems or other writings in an open mic event. “WomanSpeak” runs through May 8, the next Holistic Health Fair and Open House at Womanspace.
