Volunteers
An important part of the mission of Womanspace is to provide and promote leadership opportunities for women. One way in which women can demonstrate leadership is through volunteerism. Thanks to its volunteers, Womanspace is able to provide exceptional service for the women and families of the greater Rockford area. Volunteers assist in many ways to keep Womanspace operating smoothly:
-
Serve as a member of or chair a committee.
-
Coordinate (chair) various special events presented by Womanspace (example: Spring Luncheon, OutReach for the Arts).
-
Teach a class or conduct a workshop in your area of interest/expertise.
-
Serve as “greeter” or “program host” for workshops or special events.
-
Come in at a regular time a few hours per week or per month to staff Gallery2Go and assist with office tasks: answering phones, doing data entry, typing, researching.
-
Help in the library: Learn to accession and shelve books, tapes and videos/DVDs; prepare bibliographies; process overdue materials, etc.
-
Assist with preparation of materials and cleanup in the art studio.
-
Join the Tuesday morning gardening group.
-
Prepare and/or donate food for gallery openings, new member brunches, Jr. Members' Tea, special fundraisers, etc. Bake, freeze and donate cookies for the many events at which Womanspace provides hospitality.
-
Help with mailings.
-
Host gallery opening receptions in the galleries.
-
Give hands-on help with physical tasks, such as: garden work, maintenance and repair of the buildings, painting, driving, doing errands. A special “hands on” group for the prairie and the labyrinth is a subcommittee of Building and Grounds.
This is not an exhaustive list. Many other things, big and small, are done by volunteers. Please contact us and we will find a way to match your interests with our needs. And as always, the partners, children, and friends of members are also welcome as volunteers.
