Womanspace dedicates new Anjali Pavilion
Rockford Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on June 9
Womanspace invites the public and media to a
special ribbon cutting, building dedication and news conference for the new Anjali Pavilion on their campus located a half
mile west of Rock Valley College at 3333 Maria Linden Drive in Rockford.
Situated on the edge of the pine forest, the structure was generously donated
by First Rockford Group, Inc. President Sunil Puri and named for his daughter
Anjali who is nine years old. This beautiful and functional building will be
utilized during Glitzy Garage Sale June 3-5, with the official dedication on Thursday,
June 9, 2011 at 10:00am. The ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 10:15am with
City of Rockford Mayor Lawrence Morrissey, Sunil Puri, Rockford Chamber of
Commerce President Einar Forsman and additional special guests. Complimentary
refreshments will be served. More information is available at 815-877-0118, info@womanspace-rockford.org,

Womanspace Executive Director Elaine
Hirschenberger stated, ÒOver the years we have often mused about an open sided
gathering space here on our campus. Now, thanks to Mr. Puri, that concept is a
reality! We are thrilled with the way the architect, builders and landscapers
have executed this project.Ó
The 36 year-old not-for-profit organization
offers art classes and exhibits, and a wide range of programs and events to
enhance body, mind and spirit, with a focus on interfaith exploration, holistic
health and environmental stewardship. Womanspace plans to use the Anjali
Pavilion as an outdoor venue for multicultural events, social activities,
ceremonies, and musical performances. Like most of their campus buildings,
gardens, and labyrinth, it will be available for rentals.
See www.womanspace-rockford.org
for upcoming programs, including Red Tent Events June 21-26, during which the
Anjali Pavilion will be the main gathering space. It will also be utilized for
the Fairy Festival with Rockford Dance Company on July 23, and the FREE ÒQuilts
in a GardenÓ garden walk on June 15 with the Council of Rockford Gardeners.
To avoid road construction on Spring Brook,
you may approach from the north via Riverside Boulevard or Pepper Drive to
Applewood. Travel south on
Applewood and turn right at Maria Linden Drive. At the top of the hill, veer to
the right in front of the lot for Provena Cor Mariae.
