Feel free to bring supplies you may already have or wait for suggestions on what you may want to purchase. Some basic supplies are furnished. We will discuss preparing paper to paint, brushes and their technique, some color theory — but mostly we will jump in the water, and do it!

Learn in detail, water management, wet-on-wet, glazing, and dry brushing, so you can learn to control watercolor as much as possible. Mistake making is encouraged to learn how to fix it. Students will complete two paintings in this 6-session class as each class builds on the previous class. Bring any supplies you already have, a supply list will be attached in your confirmation email. Special paper from the instructor will be available for a small fee.

Ages 16+. Intermediate–Advanced. [Prerequisite: Previous watercolor experience required.] Line and wash is another style of watercolor. Using a variety of permanent ink pens, lines are created to enhance or express subject matter. A small amount of instruction will be provided. Students are encouraged to work on their own but may draw on the talents of the artists in the class. Students may bring their own ink pens (Uniball, Micron pen, The Elegant Writer, gel pens, etc., but it must be permanent ink), a palette with watercolor and paper of choice. Of course, sharing of supplies is encouraged so students don't have to buy an exhausting list of different type ink pens. This will be a fun,  collaborative, work at your own pace class.

Frida Kahlo once stated, "I am my own muse. I am the subject I know best. The subject I want to better." In this class, we will explore within ourselves to translate onto canvas a version of our identity based on significant life events, experiences, and memories. Previous painting experience is beneficial but not necessary. Bring your acrylic paints and your favorite brushes. The 16 x 20" canvas will be supplied. If you don't have paints, a $14 supply fee can be paid to the instructor for paints for this class.
