We will be creating feminine flower portraits using responsibly foraged flowers and botanical elements to create lovely, unique artwork. This workshop is very eco-friendly, therefore we will not be using any glue or tape to adhere the materials. We will think creatively and embrace our natural surroundings by using flowers, sticks, vines, petals, leaves, feathers and various other foliage. Snap a photo of your work and frame it!

Cyanotype (sa-YAN-no-type) is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan blue print. Rita will begin with an introduction to cyanotypes, demonstrate the proces, and then you will create your own cyanotype on fabric. Bring your own memorabilia or material to copy ( anything works) or use pressed flowers, fresh foliage and plant material from the yard.
Each person will be able to use some provided fabric/watercolor paper pieces to practice first. Then they will make a unique piece on a 6”x 6” fabric piece. This means each person will have 3-4 pieces of fabric. They can choose to frame, paint watercolor paper and frame, sew together, or use to cover a journal on their own. Instructor will give and show suggestions for finishing on your own.
Bring your ideas and any materials you wish to use. All other supplies provided.

What do you like to photograph? Let’s try to build up a few skills together and share the results! We will spend one session taking photos together, and take suggested prompts home to work on until the next session. Order prints of a couple of favorites to share, or bring a thumb drive to look at on a TV screen. Even if a topic isn’t a particular favorite, the practice and some useful bits of knowledge will likely prove useful. Practice makes progress!

Create a stunning garden theme for your fused glass lantern. Pillar candle-sized lanterns will be used, and we will replace the plain glass in the lanterns with your fused glass creations. Students will “paint” scenes on the glass panels with crushed glass, called frit, and their panels will be fired and cooled in a kiln, then mounted in the lanterns. Additional lanterns may be purchased through prior arrangement with instructor.
Art will be available for pickup at Womanspace one week after the class, to allow time for firing and cooling the glass. Safety glasses and masks will be provided if working with powdered glass. Closed-toe shoes will be required.
