Open Clay Studio
Open Clay Studio offers current and former Womanspace clay students dedicated time in the studio to continue working on pottery and ceramics projects outside of class. This is a supportive, shared studio environment for students who are ready to work independently while continuing to build their skills.
Who can attend?
Open Clay Studio is available to current and past Womanspace clay students who have completed at least 24 hours of instructional hours of beginning clay coursework at Womanspace.
This requirement helps ensure that participants are familiar with our studio practices, equipment, cleanup expectations, and safety guidelines.
Reserve Your Studio time
For space and safety reasons, all participants must reserve a specific Open Clay Studio time slot in advance.
Please sign up for the full amount of time you plan to be in the studio and leave by the end of your scheduled time.
A maximum of six participants, including the studio monitor, may be in the clay studio during each session.
Studio Guidelines
To keep the clay studio safe, welcoming, and ready for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
Register in advance for your specific day and time.
Use only the time slot you reserved.
Clean all areas, tools, and equipment you use before leaving.
Bring your own towel.
Do not use knives on the canvas tables.
Record your payment and clay use on the studio sign-in sheet.
Respect the shared studio environment and the work of others.
Open studio cannot be used for free to make up missed classes.
Fees & Payment
Open Studio Fees
Studio Fee: $5 per hour
Clay Fee: $2 per pound
Firing and glazes are included for pieces made at Womanspace.

Payment
Payment may be made by:
- Venmo (QR code in studio)
- Cash
- Check
Cash or check payments should be placed in the studio payment envelope with your name, date, and amount written on the outside.
Recording
Please indicate on the studio sign-in sheet:
- Amount paid
- Payment method
- What the payment is for
Example: “$12, cash, 2 hours + 1 lb. clay”
Non-Womanspace Pieces
Glaze and firing fees:
- $2.00/1-2 lb. piece
- $3.00/3-4 lb. piece
- $5.00/5 lb. and up
Weight and size are approximate.
CharmQuest 815
Open Studio
CharmQuest 815 participants have separate Open Clay Studio time slots reserved specifically for work connected to the CharmQuest 815 project.
For CharmQuest 815 Open Studio:
- Studio time is free
- Clay is provided at no cost
- Glaze and firing are included
- Registration is still required
- Add time to your sign up sheet in the binder in the CharmQuest cupboard
Note: If all 5 slots are filled in Sign Up Genius, you may work in the upper studio if it is unused.
